Background & Context

Floré is a BioTech start up that specializes in creating custom probiotic formulations based off of individuals gut DNA and functions on a subscription model. I joined this team as employee number 8 and was responsible for spearheading the development of the brand identity in its entirety. I managed all design and marketing aspects of the product from conceptualization to launch. 

Role Overview

  • Web design for the customer portal, working with developers to communicate project scope and parameters

  • Designing executive pitch decks for board meetings with major investors such as Dannon, IndieBio, and Target Accelerator

  • Lead product photoshoots, approving shot lists and art direction

  • Social media management and content creation

The Packaging Design

This product is a multistep process that required unique packaging for each step of the customer’s journey, mailed out over the course of 4 months. This included medical sample collection kits, pill boxes, and temperature-controlled shipping mailers. I redesigned each piece to create a simplified and easy to understand user experience, working directly with suppliers, manufacturers, and printers, managing the process from start to finish for all components of the product.

The first step in the process is to collect a stool sample for sequencing. This is the collection kit that is used in that process.

Floré Tots Microbiome Collection Kit

How do you make a stool collection kit “fun” for kids? Add playful colors and happy little microbes! This design was created as a product expansion for children in addition to the Adult Floré offering.

Floré Probiotics Pill Boxes

As a subscription service, a customer receives a new 30 day supply of custom probiotics every month. There are four age groups each with their own unique branding variation. This box was designed to have a premium feel (think Apple iPhone box) with a hand wrapped pull apart box and soft touch coating. We intentionally leave space on the back to accommodate a nutrition facts label that is custom to every unique customer formula. All of the pills come sealed in a foil pouch to maintain freshness and provide the customer with instructions for use.
